Brow Lift in Washington D.C.

Facial skin is highly delicate and prone to wrinkles and other signs of aging. As our eyebrows begin to droop, it can lead to obstructed vision and make us look tired, angry, unhappy, or depressed. Many factors contribute to sagging brows and wrinkles, including aging, genetics, lifestyle, and gravity. One way to address forehead wrinkles and heavy eyebrows is to undergo a brow lift, sometimes referred to as a forehead lift, to tighten the forehead, smooth wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes, and lift the eyebrows for a youthful, refreshed appearance.

What a Brow Lift Can Address

Drooping Brows

With brow lift surgery, the brows are repositioned to a natural, youthful position on the face for a refreshed, alert appearance.

Furrows Between the Eyebrows

A brow lift can reduce frown lines (vertical creases between the eyebrows) by pulling the skin taut and smoothing it for a friendlier, happier demeanor.

Horizontal Forehead Wrinkles

Excess skin is removed to achieve a smoother texture. This method reduces lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

Addressing Any Concerns

Recovery

Directly following your surgery, your forehead may be taped, and your head will be wrapped in bandages and gauze. These surgical dressings will aid in your recovery by reducing swelling and bruising. In some cases, a drainage tube may be applied to collect excess blood and fluids that may form under the skin.

Tips for a more comfortable healing process include elevating your head, utilizing cold compresses, and avoiding physical activity for approximately one week. Your post-surgical care instructions should be carefully followed, as they will inform you about how to care for incision and tube sites as well as what you should do during your recovery.

Many patients heal between one and two weeks and are able to return to work and everyday activities after one week. Any remaining bruising should dissipate within the third week and can be covered by cosmetics as needed. Sutures or clips will be removed at an appropriate time appointed by your surgeon, typically within one to two weeks. It may take up to two months for your body to completely heal, so it is important to rest, relax, and follow your post-surgery instructions to ensure a comfortable recovery.

Scars

Most scars will be unnoticeable, and any existing visible scars can be covered by a headband, makeup, or bangs.

Cost

Pricing for a brow lift can vary depending on your surgeon’s experience, the method of your procedure, and other associated costs such as anesthesia fees, hospital or surgical facility costs, medical testing, post-surgical garments, prescription medications, and surgeon’s fees. Health insurance policies typically do not cover brow lift surgery, so you may want to discuss financing options during your consultation.

Pain

Your forehead may feel tight after your procedure, and some patients experience minor discomfort, which can be remedied by taking prescription pain medications. Most pain will dissipate within one week.
