Upper Body Lift in Washington D.C.

Significant weight loss can be a substantial change in your life that can bring about numerous benefits, but it can also come with some adverse side effects. One of the most frustrating is the excess skin that stays behind even after the weight is gone.

Patients often find their sagging skin bothersome. It can impair hygiene, cause uncomfortable chafing, prevent clothing from fitting properly, and require you to shift around your remaining skin for everyday activities.

Upper body lift surgery corrects these inconveniences throughout the upper body by eliminating extra skin and sculpting the area for an improved body aesthetic, returning lost confidence and self-esteem.

Upper Body Lift Treatment Areas

Arms

Dr. Davison can address problematic areas on the arms by conducting an arm lift, or brachioplasty, which can remove excess skin and pull the remaining skin tight for an improved arm appearance. If needed, liposuction can be utilized to remove targeted residual fat deposits. Skin laxity is improved, and the arms are reshaped.

Breasts

The breasts can be contoured and lifted, and, in some cases, breast augmentation can also be included to add volume to the breasts. Conversely, a breast reduction can remove excess fat and glandular tissue from the breast to achieve a more proportional figure. Some patients opt for fat grafting, which harvests fat from other areas of the body (such as the back) and purifies it to be transferred to the breasts for enhancement.

Back

Uncomfortable, excess fat or skin can be removed simultaneously. Remaining skin and tissue are lifted to remove rolls or creases and achieve the desired body contour. Abdominoplasty, or a tummy tuck, can also address the stomach area and extend to the back for additional contouring.

What Are My Upper Body Lift Procedure Options?

Have Concerns About Upper Body Lift Surgery?

What Can I Expect for My Upper Body Lift Recovery?

Some patients require one or two nights at the hospital, while others may be allowed to return home after a few hours. Compression garments are wrapped around the incision locations, and drainage tubes may be applied to collect excess fluids. Most tubes are removed a few days after the procedure.

You may be required to keep your arms elevated above your heart and refrain from laying on your back for the first week. It can take between two weeks and two months for patients to resume work and daily activities.

Exercise and arduous activities should be avoided for the first several months. Carefully reading and adhering to your surgeon’s post-operative instructions will help your body heal properly for optimal results. Focus on resting and getting sleep during your recuperation.

Patients are encouraged to get out of bed and gently move around their homes within the first few days.

Will I Have Scars After an Upper Body Lift?

Scarring is impossible to avoid when incisions are made, but Dr. Davison will take great care to conceal scarring in inconspicuous locations that can be covered with clothing.

Since most incisions are small, and scars tend to fade with time, it is likely that the scarring will eventually become virtually unnoticeable.

Arm lift incisions typically run down the underside of the arm, from the armpit to the elbow.

How Much Does an Upper Body Lift Cost?

Upper body lift surgery is completely customized for each patient, so the price will vary based on each patient’s preferences, goals, and treatment plan.

Factors associated with this procedure include physician or surgeon fees, medical facility costs, anesthesia, medical testing, prescription medications, surgical dressings, and other expenses. An accurate estimate will be provided during your consultation.

Is Upper Body Lift Surgery Painful?

Pain is typically moderate and can be alleviated with prescription medications. Relaxing, getting plenty of sleep, and staying hydrated will assist in your recovery. Follow all post-operative care instructions carefully to ensure your recovery is as comfortable as possible.
