A Deep Plane Facelift is a more powerful Facelift.
Not all Facelifts are alike – nor is one single Facelift suitable for every person.

Dr. Davison recommends the Deep Plane Facelift – using his advanced, specialized techniques – to patients who need a more powerful technique or have skin with poor blood supply from previous damage such as smoking or scars. This Facelift utilizes the most sophisticated and advanced techniques available today and requires a high level of expertise to perform.  Dr. Davison is an expert in all Facelift surgeries and is able to achieve outstanding – long lasting results for his patients.

  • Deep Plane Facelift creates a more youthful - backward & upward lift
  • Deep Plane Facelift achieves  conservative – natural results
  • Deep Plane Facelift can elevate the cheek or midface like no other Facelift
  • Deep Plane Facelift does not create a “pulled” look
  • Deep Plane Facelift -  performed by Dr. Davison – involves hidden scars
  • Deep Plane Facelift puts tension on deeper tissues, not the skin.

The Deep Plane Facelift is perfect for anyone needing extensive rejuvenation of the face and neck, or those with previous scars.

When you look into the mirror, if you are unhappy with the appearance of your face because of the problems mentioned earlier, you are probably a good candidate for Facelift surgery. Dr. Davison will determine this during your personal consultation. He will also do a complete assessment of your concerns, the condition of your skin, your underlying anatomy, your individual desires and how much aging is evident in your face.  No matter what your age is – Dr. Davison can achieve dramatic results.  He may also recommend a combination of other facial procedures be done at the same time such as Chin/Cheek Augmentation/Fat Transfer, Eyebrow Lift, Blepharoplasty, for example - in order to achieve the most natural and satisfying outcome based upon your expectations.

There is a great deal of energy and money being spent in today’s advertising to brand certain kinds of Facelift operations – as the latest and greatest -Don’t be fooled!

No single type of operation or treatment is right for everybody.
It is imperative that your surgeon has a deep understanding of how to match the right surgery to your specific needs.  Dr. Davison is an expert in all surgeries of the face and neck – he has performed hundreds of Facelifts – and he performs them regularly!

The initial consultation with your surgeon is critical!  It should always be face to face with your surgeon during which time he/she listens closely to your concerns.  Dr. Davison believes this time spent with you is critical to both you and to him.  It is during the consultation that he comes to fully understand your concerns, evaluates them correctly and is then able to make the recommendations and develop the surgery/treatment plan that is right for you. Dr. Davison invests the time – to sit down and talk to you face-to-face.

After you are prepped and anesthetized, Dr. Davison will mark your face to indicate incision(s) placement and then proceed to make those incisions.  Working through these he will tighten and lift muscles, remove excess skin, remove and/or redistribute and sculpt fat to restore lost volume/fullness, redrape the skin and close the incisions. The tension is put on the deep plane to avoid a pulled experience on the skin.  You can expect a full head dressing and drain tubes.  Your surgery may take several hours depending upon the extensiveness and individualized procedures you are having done.  Swelling, bruising, numbness and some discomfort are normal and to be expected for 1-2 weeks.

Deep Plane Facelift – What is it?
A Deep Plane Facelift creates a backward and upward lift – towards the top of the ear – by tightening the SMAS which is the deeper layer of tissue beneath the skin. It avoids excessive tension on the skin and preserves more blood supply.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Deep Plane Facelift?
If you are in otherwise good health – and you have realistic expectations about dealing with the appearance of a sagging face and neck skin – and you need a more powerful techniques because of skin with poor blood supply from smoking or scars - you are a good candidate.

Can a Deep Plane Facelift deal with other areas of my face?
No.  Facelift deals only with the lower two-thirds of your face. It will not eliminate wrinkles around your mouth or lines and wrinkles in the eye area or forehead. Dr. Davison’s patients combine other procedures –such as Eyelid surgery, Chin Augmentation etc. to address these areas.

You will experience mild pain and discomfort.  Your discomfort will be easily managed with oral pain medication and goes away over a few days.

What can I expect during recovery?
Swelling, bruising, puffiness, numbness and paleness are all normal and to be expected.    You must keep your head elevated for the first few days to help manage swelling. These issues clear gradually over several days, however some bruising will take 2-3 weeks to resolve.

What can I expect right after surgery?
Bandages will be applied to your head and neck-and then removed the next day.  Dr. Davison will then decide if you need a lighter bandage for a few more days.
