Women with large, irregular labia (both labia minora and labia majora) that are stretched and/or elongated can experience discomfort, irritation, infections, and painful sexual relations that lead to reduced gratification, embarrassment, increased self-consciousness, and poor self-esteem.

Childbirth, weight fluctuations, aging, and gravity, as well as being born with enlarged labia, can cause both functional problems and dissatisfaction with appearance. Labiaplasty safely and effectively corrects these problems by reshaping and reducing the size of the labia to be smaller and more attractive.

Who Can Benefit?

If you’re considering labiaplasty, you may experience one or more of the following:

Genetically Large Labia

Some women just have naturally larger labia. Size variance is common, but it can become an issue when it causes physical and emotional discomfort. Naturally large labia can impact your ability to maintain proper hygiene, and some women are more prone to vaginal infections due to their labial size.

Added Labial Length After Childbirth

You may find that the length of your labia becomes distended after childbirth. For some women, this change in their labial appearance makes them self-conscious. You may find that it impacts your comfort during intimacy. Improving the length and appearance of your labia can make you more confident.

Full Pubic Mound After Weight Gain

After gaining weight, a prominent pubic bulge may prevent you from wearing tight-fitting clothing, including pants, shorts, and bathing suits. Snug clothing can cause irritation to your outer labia and may make you prone to vaginal infections. Reducing the size of the pubic mound can help you feel more comfortable in your clothes.

Our providers are diverse in their backgrounds and experience but share a commitment to the highest aesthetic standards.

What Do You Desire?

A Natural Appearance

There are multiple labiaplasty techniques, and the one used for your procedure will affect the look of your labia. The wedge excision technique removes a V-shaped strip of tissue from the middle of the labia to reduce its size. This leaves the edge of the labia intact, which maintains a more natural labial look.

Improved Color

You may feel that the discoloration along the edge of your labia creates an undesirable or aged appearance. The trim excision method reduces the size of labia by trimming away excess tissue from the edge. Once healed, patients find their labial edge has a more youthful, pink appearance.

Reduced Pubic Mound

Patients who feel that their labia majora are prominent may benefit from liposuction and the tightening of the mons pubis. A monsplasty removes fatty tissue from the outer labia and the top of the pubic mound to eliminate a “puffy” appearance.

Addressing Your Concerns

Recovery

You will experience swelling and bruising of the labia that resolves in two to seven days. During this time, you may experience some spotting or urinary hesitance. You can shower six hours after your surgery but shouldn’t submerge your body in water for at least three weeks. You can resume sexual activity after four to six weeks.

Scars

Both excision methods result in little visible scarring once fully healed. There may be some minor scarring at the site of your liposuction that is likely to fade over time.

Cost

Many factors affect the cost of labiaplasty. Geographical location, facility fees, anesthesia fees, and surgeon fees all alter the ultimate cost of your procedure. However, price should only be one factor in choosing a surgeon. You should never sacrifice quality work by a board-certified plastic surgeon just to save some money. Proven results matter. Financing is available if needed.

Pain

There is some slight pain associated with labiaplasty. Immediately following your surgery, it is normal to experience redness, bruising, swelling, and soreness. To control the pain, you will be prescribed an oral pain medication and should schedule downtime for at least a few days following your surgery.
